Casual 'Cirque du Soleil' Outfit

fits Franklin Mint Diana Portrait Doll

Several quintessential Diana looks, all combined in one outfit. She had worn polka dots all through the 80's, a trend brought to mind by the easy-fitting sleeveless polka dot tank top, paired with a tan skirt. She teamed it with a long-standing favorite style of purse for private events, a fabric tote bag, this one in a contrasting polka dot, and a simple pearl necklace, her peferred gemstone and one she had been wearing since her teens. The event was the first London run of Cirque du Soleil, and Diana took her beloved boys in early 1990, probably as a treat before the school term started.

It must have been a combination that she liked, as she wore it later, probably to a photo session with Patrick Demarchelier, where she posed for a casual snap with the photographer in 1989(below left). The top was usually seen under suits at official public events, such as Ascot 1991 under a white Catherine Walker suit, and as late as 1992 when it was seen under another suit (below right) to a mental health briefing at the Ministry of Health.

The top for this recreation for the Franklin Mint Diana the People's Princess doll is in a polka dot cotton, lined in white to prevent staining. It closes in the back with a snap. The skirt is in a natural tissue linen, also fully lined in white and closing in the back with snaps. The tote bag is polka dot cotton, lined in white. The suede belt is from a set made by Sharon Williamson , (you can reach her through the e-Bay link), but I can also provide a pleather belt. Shown with shoes are from the Franklin Mint Princess of Glamour doll and watch and earrings from the Casual Khaki Ensemble. (I apologize, but I cannot for the life of me remember from whom I purchased the little link bracelet and 'pearl' necklace!) .
