Cerise Coat

The Cambridge's whirlwind visit to New York City in December of 2014 included a visit to the National September 11th Memorial and Museum. Later that day the couple also visited a youth development program. For the day, Kate chose a bright cerise $2,500 crepe/wool/silk blend coat from British luxury brand Mulberry's fall/winter 2014 collection. Not officially a maternity coat, it was still roomy enough for the 5 months pregnant duchess.(left)

The coat caused a bit of controversy. For most of the trip, Kate's wardrobe was in dark colors - a black lace cocktail dress, a navy lace gown, a black and white coat. The choice of the one bright color for the September 11th Memorial was viewed by many as disrespectful and inapppropriate. Others defended it, saying it was an uplifting color for a dreary day.

She wore it again in March of 2015 on her last public appearance before the birth of Princess Charlotte, joining William on day engagements in South London (right)It made several appearances in January 2018 on her third pregnancy, on a day visit to Coventry and for their arrival in Sweden on the Cambridge's official visit.
