Red Preen Cocktail Dress

There was only one formal event for the Cambridges during their tour of Canada in 2016, a reception hosted by the Province of British Columbia at Government House. Kate wore what was widely accepted as her best look of the tour, a mid length red cocktail dress. It was accessorized by huge freshwater pearl earrings, and the Queen's diamond Maple Leaf Brooch.(left)

She wore it again that December, at a private fundraiser for the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, (above right) and two years later, in November of 2018, she wore it again to the same private fundraiser (below right).

The dress, called 'Finella', came from a pre-fall 2016 collection by the British label Preen. It was described in the fashion press somewhat confusingly as being alternately 'modern, 'inspired by the Bloomsbury look of the 1930s', and 'evoking the mid-century style of the late Deborah, Duchess of Devonshire'. It retailed for about $1,700.

This recreation for the Franklin Mint vinyl Kate Middleton doll is in red crepe, as was the original. It features the asymmetric neckline and pleat bodice detail of the original, as well as the full mid-length skirt. It is fully lined in white to prevent staining, and closes in the back with snaps. Comes with red satin clutch bag. The 'silver' pin is just a place holder and not necessarily included. Shown with the red shoes from the Franklin Mint Princess Diana Red Dress with Bow outfit, and earrings from the Franklin Mint Diana, Princess of Grandeur doll.
