Diana wore this suit repeatedly over the next year or so - in November 1991 to an awards luncheon of Help the Aged, of which she was patron, and in 1992 on day engagements from the Midlands to London on March 5 and in and around Teeside in September. She also wore it with a matching pink skirt (right) in May of 1992 when she opened a hospital in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. Occasionally there were outfits Diana liked or found functional, and she would get it in different colors. She had this one also in blue and black. By 1993 it seems she no longer liked or had need of this, and she disposed of it as she did many of her suits - by reselling them. Royals never carried money and Diana like to have cash on hand if she wanted to pop into a store for cards or CD's to send to her sons at school, to take the boys to a movie or McDonald's, and to give them pocket money for themselves. Every so often someone - sometimes her assistant Victoria Mendham, sometimes her butler Paul Burrell, sometimes the Duchess of York's mother, sometimes one of her friends - would take things in to resale shops. This one ended up being bought in 1993 by an editor at Marie Claire magazine. |

The jacket features floralesque gold tone stud 'buttons' on the cuffs and front and the brown pocket trim that matches the skirt of the original. All pieces are lined in light pink to prevent staining and close with snaps. Also includes a brown clutch bag. Shoes are from SnE. |
