Diana gained a reputation from her critics as being a frivolous and spendthrift shopper, but this dress indicates that in reality she was fairly practical. When something worked, it stayed. Mentioned (but not proven) to be from the German house Mondi and bought originally for her honeymoon (she was seen wearing it on the 'Brittania', near right), it was in her wardrobe for at least 8 years, being last seen publicly in June of 1989 (far right) at a charity event at one of the David Lloyd Racquet Clubs, of which she was patron,in aid of the British Deaf Association, of which she was also patron.

This reproduction is made from custom specially printed silk, and features the asymmetric neck and hemline, as well as the shoulder 'ties', of the original. The bodice is shaped on the bias, is fully lined, and it closes in the back with a zipper. Please note that due to the layout of the stripe pattern and the way I shaped the bodice, the side seams don't flow in a continuous line as the ones on the original do, they instead meet in a chevron. Shown with the earrings from the Casual Khaki outfit and shoes from the White Lace Gown. |
