Memorial Day Picnic at Camp Blue Rock
We love our friends at North Madison Church
Of Christ!
They are so fun, and treat us so well, that we go there every chance we get.
So because we were not playing in Crossroads' Praise Band last sunday,
we went to Jerry's church to "check up on them" and see if they'd learned any
new songs we could steal ... LOL!
We won't say if we stole any songs, you'll have to come see for yourself,
but we did find out they were having a picnic at Camp Blue Rock that day.
We like picnics!
So we asked Pastor Jerry if we could come to the picnic ...
and if we did, could we play in the band?
He said sure we could come, but that he'd have to check to see if we could play. A
little later, he called to tell us we were welcome to play too!
After we played at Broadfield Nursing Home (like we do every last sunday of each month) we
took our equipment, and headed for the camp!
It's a beautiful place, fun but peaceful at the same time!
(See pic above!)
We quickly got set up, did a sound check,
and grabbed some burgers & dogs!
The band turned out to be made up of folks
from several area churches ...
they had practiced together, we had not. But, drawing upon our vast experience
playing in "pick-up bands" from our Rock n Roll years, we did the best we could,
and tried not to gross people out with too many sour notes!
Jerry said we were "representing" Crossroads ... which was funny because no one
from Crossroads even knew we were there!
After maybe fifteen Praise and Worship
songs, Pastor Roy Williams gave an excellent message & prayer, and then we finished up
with a few patriotic songs.
All in all, we had a wonderful Memorial Day,
the best we've had in years!
Here's a picture of the band!
We thank all the folks there for treating us
gate crashers so well!
